What does child sponsorship provide?
With £32 a month, you offer a child the unique opportunity to be educated. Education will empower the sponsored child and provide them with a sense of hope and confidence. In many regions of Southeast Asia, supplementary courses are crucial for gaining access to the best quality of learning and consequently gaining better chances of reaching higher education. Your donation will contribute to this!
Where does my sponsorship make a difference?
Children of the Mekong focuses on the region of Southeast Asia, specifically the countries of Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, the Philippines and, as of recently, East Timor! Children of the Mekong aims to improve the lives of as many children as possible and is therefore committed to supporting the children of these countries living in remote areas and those coming from ethnic minority groups who often face persecution.
When does a sponsored child begin to see change?
Shortly after your first donation you will receive a welcome pack containing a picture of the sponsored child, a description of the sponsorship programme and information about the child. You will then receive letters from the child informing you about their progress in school! In addition, Children of the Mekong supports children through constructing necessary facilities to build the best possible learning environment. With your help and our large network of individuals, we have been able to rapidly construct many education centres and shelters across the region. With your support, no child is ever left behind!
Why is child sponsorship important?
At Children of the Mekong, we believe that access to education empowers children and helps them and future generations break away from the cycle of poverty. An educated generation will help to build stronger communities. Moreover, by sponsoring a child from an isolated region or an ostracised minority group, you are enabling younger generations to carve out a bright path ahead of them which would not have been possible due to geographical factors and discrimination.
