Typhoon Yagi in Vietnam, Children of the Mekong local team call for help
September 12, 2024: Northern Vietnam has just been ravaged by Typhoon Yagi, one of the most destructive storms the country has ever seen.
High winds and flooding have destroyed hundreds of villages, leaving thousands of families homeless, without food and with no immediate hope of recovery.
The typhoon ravaged entire regions, destroying homes, schools and vital infrastructure. Many families are now without shelter, access to drinking water or means of subsistence. Crops have been destroyed, plunging thousands of people into a situation of serious food insecurity.
Faced with the scale of this disaster, our local leaders on the ground have launched appeals for help. We cannot remain indifferent. We have to respond to the immediate needs of these impoverished families who, in addition to having lost their homes, find themselves without food resources.
Children of the Mekong is implementing an exceptional intervention plan in this emergency. Even if our primary commitment remains education, we must, in these tragic hours, lend our support to the families we work with daily.
We need your exceptional support, here are a few examples of how you can help:
- US$55 will feed a family for a week.
- US$110 will buy materials to repair a house.
Thank you in advance for your generous support.
