Have you ever considered that travel is not just about seeing new places, but about questioning the way you see the world and yourself?
Travelling with purpose: Helping better by travelling smarter! Combining travel with giving back may seem challenging, but Children of the Mekong offers a journey through Southeast Asia that is both enriching and meaningful.
Sponsoring a child turns your travel into a force for good, creating a real and lasting impact in the communities you visit.
Imagine staying with local families, supporting local businesses, and fully embracing local customs. Travel can be more than sightseeing; it can be responsible, meaningful, and life-changing.
Children of the Mekong, active in Southeast Asia since 1958, offers an even deeper connection: sponsoring a child. Whether travelling alone or with your family, meeting your sponsored child will undoubtedly be the highlight of your journey.

Meeting your sponsored child offers a unique opportunity to (re)discover South-East Asia with a team of dedicated, passionate people.
Each year, more than 300 sponsors meet their sponsored children and connect with their families… There, they discover a very different reality. For everyone, it is a deeply memorable experience.
In France, your sponsorship manager helps you organise the visit. Once you arrive, our French and local teams are there to guide you. They help with translation, answer your questions, and give you insight into your sponsored child’s daily life, family, and school. Being with people who know the area inside out is the best way to enjoy a unique and authentic encounter, far from the usual tourist paths.

Thanks to your sponsorship, your sponsored child can go to school and have all their school-related costs covered. You can choose the country you would like to sponsor a child in, and the team will do their best to honour your choice.
Before the trip, the Children of the Mekong staff organise the meeting with your sponsored child and provide guidance on how to reach their home, as well as a translator. The rest of the trip can be planned freely.
Halfway through the trip, the meeting with your sponsored child takes place. Short as it is, this moment becomes the highlight of your journey.
Letters from your sponsored child allow you to stay connected. By subscribing to Asie Reportages, the only French-language magazine about Asia, and receiving regular updates from Children of the Mekong, you can follow your sponsored chil[…]

A wonderful visit that makes our commitment even more tangible. We will especially remember the football matches with the young people at the centre!
Even after several trips to Asia, we were deeply moved by our meeting with our sponsored child; it was an intense and happy moment!
Meeting our sponsored child was a life-changing experience! She brought our idea of sponsorship to life, and thank you to Bambou Audrey for organising it!
It was wonderful meeting our sponsored child, Dana, who lives and studies science in Phnom Penh! We were touched by her kindness and hospitality.
My parents were born in Vietnam and arrived in France as refugees (boat people) in the late 1970s. I grew up learning the importance of education. I started sponsoring as soon as I signed my first permanent contract and have now been sponsoring Ka Gia Tue for five years. I now live in Melbourne and I would never stop sponsoring her. Having my dad with us for the meeting with my sponsored child in Vietnam made the experience unique because I don’t speak Vietnamese fluently. During our visit, the whole family was there. Ka Gia Tue is a very sweet, shy little girl. She calls me ‘big sister’. Ka Gia Tue’s mother thanked me during the meal because, according to her, I have not only helped Ka Gia Tue but all of her children. It was a long journey from Saigon, but it was definitely worth it!
Our charity fights against all forms of voluntourism and its harmful effects.
