Sponsor a girl at school
WHY IS GIRLS’ EDUCATION ESSENTIAL?
All over the world, girls remain victims of gender discrimination, particularly in relation to education: only 30% of school children in the world are girls.
In Cambodia, for example, 30% of women cannot read and write, compared to 15% of men.
We are convinced that school remains one of the main keys to the development of a country. This is why we pay particular attention to the conditions of girls education in our various sponsorship programmes.
WHY IS THE SITUATION OF YOUNG GIRLS IN MYANMAR WORRYING?
Burmese society remains a fundamentally patriarchal society. Nevertheless, progress had been noted, in particular thanks to an active network of associations such as the Women’s League of Myanmar and the Network for Gender Equality or even thanks to government figures such as MP Shwe Shwe Sein Latt.
Unfortunately, since the February 2021 coup, a return to inequality has been felt and risks calling into question all the progress made to date.
THE SOLUTION OF SPONSORING A GIRL
WHAT IS CHILD SPONSORSHIP?
Sponsoring a girl at school opens door to education. Thanks to your action, your sponsor child will be able to go to school, dress and eat properly. You will accompany her throughout her schooling and experience her development with her; a real bond is created between you and your sponsored child.
You can maintain this relationship and communicate with her by sending letters and photos, by e-mail or by post. To make this relationship even more concrete, you can also decide to go directly to meet her.
